Female Genital Mutilation eLearning course

This course gives people the information they require to identify the things which may make a girl vulnerable to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). We also cover what FGM is and how to approach conversations around the topic with someone who may have experienced FGM as a child or a young adult.

There are many myths surrounding FGM, such as that it is not as common anymore in the UK. However, the huge demand for this course suggests that there are many people out there who wish to learn more about how they can help prevent FGM from happening or support those who may have been subjected to it. The NHS reported 690 new cases of FGM in the UK between January and March 2021, this startling figure shows the importance of education around the risk factors which may lead to women being subject to FGM.

  • Facts, figures and myths about FGM
