Grey Matter Learning say farewell to shining star George North

Last week, Grey Matter Learning (GML) said farewell to a shining star in its ranks, George North, as he embarks on a new journey.

For the last two years, George served as a Customer Care Advisor at GML and in his own words “enjoyed every moment of it.”

Before starting at GML, George was working on his own business before deciding to join the organisation. He chose GML to make a positive difference in the lives of others and have more meaning in his life.

George was attracted to GML’s mission of ‘improving lives through learning’, as he felt it aligned with his own lifelong learning ambitions. George recalls learning new things every day and constantly developing his own skills and knowledge whilst supporting others to do so too.

After two fantastic years at GML, George’s departure felt bittersweet as he mentioned how much he will miss the team. He said: “My colleagues have been the best – especially Kieran.”

When asked what his favourite part of the job was, George said: “Ensuring happy customers was at the heart of everything I did. I loved helping people because it led to supporting the service users, which could be one of my family members.

“Social care is so important, and the work at GML helps enhance the quality of care provided. To me, this is so important that those individuals who need it most are given the best care and support.”

During his time at GML, George quickly became a trusted and valued team member, often going above and beyond to deliver exceptional service to customers.

His hard work and passion for the job were noticed by senior colleagues, who gushed with praise for George. Grey Matter Learning Managing Director Phil Hitchcox said:

“George has developed so much during his time with us. His ability to understand the industry’s challenges and offer tailored support to our customers was fantastic.”

Phil went on to mention how George was thirsty to learn more and develop his skills within the role, an attribute Phil valued greatly.

“He was so eager to learn more and develop his skills. He had a real drive and passion for his role. I am sad to see him leave, but I know George has a bright future ahead of him, and I wish him the best of luck on his new adventure.”

So, what is next for George? He is moving into a new, more challenging role that will allow him to develop his skills further. He noted how his time at GML will support his future career. He said: “the transferrable skills I have gained during my time in the business will support me as I embark on a new journey.

“Working so closely with different customers, from all different walks of life, has enabled me to enhance my communication skills and improved my confidence.”

When asked how he would summarise his time at GML, George said: “Absolutely amazing. GML has been the best company I have ever worked for. The colleagues are fantastic, the customers are the best, and the company’s mission is priceless.

“I’m going to miss GML, but I know it’s time for me to move on.”

This is just the beginning of George’s story, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.
