The overall purpose is to support learners to identify, deter and reject people who are at risk of abusing the people they support. It is a guide to make good recruitment decisions, taking into account procedures and checks to provide a robust recruitment process to meet legislative requirements and best practice that is focused on the safety of children and vulnerable people. It will help learners to understand the risks to vulnerable people when the wrong people are employed.
Looking at the whole recruitment process from start to finish beginning with designing and describing the job role to get the right applicants for the role. Guiding learners through what to do to ensure compliance with legislation and what documentation is required to evidence so that learners have not acted in a discriminatory way. Providing practical interview questions and techniques as well as employment checks.
